If It’s Broke, Don’t Fix It — Let God Restore It

Years ago, back when I worked in an office, I broke something that I didn’t know how to fix. I didn’t realize then that God would use that small moment to teach me something big about healing and restoration.

At first, I panicked and started searching for a way to fix it. I asked someone I worked with

at the time if they had any super glue. They didn’t—but they said, “I do have a hot glue gun.” A light bulb went off in my head.

Why didn’t I think of that sooner?

That moment stuck with me because later I realized there were things in my home I’d been meaning to fix for months—a few shower hooks, an earring, and two little statues. I had been putting it off, thinking I needed something stronger or more expensive. But the truth was, I already had what I needed the whole time.

So the next morning, I pulled out that hot glue gun and went to work. And while everything didn’t look quite as perfect as before, I was so happy to see those broken things restored.

As I looked at what I’d repaired, God spoke something simple but powerful to my heart. We often do the same thing with our lives.

We make mistakes. We say things we shouldn’t. We hurt others—or ourselves. And instead of seeking God right away, we pull away, thinking we’re too broken to be fixed.

But here’s the good news: the answer has been with us all along.

Just like I had the hot glue gun sitting in my house, we have the Word of God right in front of us—the ultimate tool for healing and restoration.

Jesus is the healer of our souls. He is the One who binds the broken pieces and makes us whole again. And while we may not look “perfect” afterward, we can still be beautifully restored—made stronger, more compassionate, and more aware of His grace.

If something feels broken in your life—your heart, your relationships, your dreams—invite God to help you mend it back together.

Your brokenness is not too big for Him. He is the healer of broken hearts, and He promised to give you a clean one.

Pray with Me

Heavenly Father,Thank You for being the healer of my heart. When things in my life feel broken, remind me that You are near and nothing is beyond Your repair. Help me to stop running from my pain and instead bring it to You—the One who restores, renews, and makes all things new.

Teach me to see beauty even in the cracks, knowing Your grace fills every empty space. Thank You for reminding me that in You, I am whole, loved, and full of purpose. I choose to rest in Your promises and walk in the peace that only You can give.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
